The dinosaur fossils discovered on Port Island were dated to the Cretaceous period (about 145 million to 66 million years ago). They are the dinosaur fossils discovered for the first time in Hong Kong.
The fossils are flat-shaped, preliminarily attributed to a large aged dinosaur and may be part of the bones of the shoulder or hip. Further fossil excavation, preparation of fossils and scientific research will shed light on the dinosaur’s species and aid us in constructing the story of dinosaurs in Hong Kong.
