Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$93.9 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$10.52 billion, or 11.2% of the market's turnover. There were 623 short-selling stocks. TRACKER FUND (02800) and CCB (00939) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$595.9 million and HK$559.95 million, or 5.66% and 5.32% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 12.06% and 8.25% of respective stock's turnover.
ICBC (01398) and TENCENT (00700) registered HK$504.66 million and HK$485.17 million of short sales, accounting for 4.8% and 4.61% of the total short sales values respectively. The transactions represented 21.87% and 14.82% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND closed up HK$0.34, or 1.82%, to HK$19.01. CCB ended up HK$0.33, or 6.25%, to HK$5.61. ICBC rose HK$0.2, or 4.6% to HK$4.55. TENCENT jumped HK$0.2, or 0.05%, to HK$370.
