[ET Net News Agency, 30 June 2020] Daiwa Research raised its target price for BYD
Company (01211) to HK$70 from HK$59 and maintained its "buy" rating.
The research house sees increasing external battery supply opportunities for BYD over 2H
2020-22, given its cutting-edge battery technology.
Daiwa said BYD's blade LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery will effectively lower
battery costs by 20-30%, according to management. If the blade LFP battery is well
received, Daiwa believes BYD will explore NMC blade batteries, which have higher energy
density. It believes more OEMs will tap BYD for battery supply, which should increase the
possibility of a listing of its battery arm in the next 2-3 years. (KL)
