[ET Net News Agency, 3 July 2020] Goldman Sachs raised its target price for SMIC
(00981) to HK$42 from HK$23 and maintained its "buy" rating.
The research house expects (1) a strong revenue/earnings CAGR of 22%/42% in 2020-2025
due to the high utilization rate of mature nodes (40nm-65mm) and disciplined expansion of
advanced notes (14/12nm, N+1, N+2); and (2) growing IC design houses in China to drive
growth, with SMIC the major beneficiary locally.
Goldman expects SMIC to continue with its technology migration, moving from 14nm to 12nm
this year, to N+1 (8nm) in 2022, N+2 (7nm) in 2023, and 5nm in 2025. (KL)
