[ET Net News Agency, 9 January 2025] Full-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$129.07 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$18.67 billion, or 14.46% of the
market's turnover. There were 661 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and XIAOMI-W
(01810) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.99 billion and HK$995.98
million, or 10.64% and 5.34% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 8.78% and 17.22% of respective stock's turnover.
MEITUAN-W (03690) and TRACKER FUND (02800) registered HK$624.24 million and HK$597.29
million of short sales, accounting for 3.34% and 3.2% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 16.31% and 7.81% of respective stock's
turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$4.2, or 1.14%, to HK$373.4. XIAOMI-W ended up HK$0.95, or 2.9%, to
HK$33.75. MEITUAN-W fell HK$2.3, or 1.57% to HK$144.4. TRACKER FUND declined by HK$0.04,
or 0.21%, to HK$19.43.
