[ET Net News Agency, 3 January 2025] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$86.49
billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$12.37 billion, or 14.3% of the market's
turnover. There were 624 short-selling stocks. XIAOMI-W (01810) and HSCEI ETF (02828) saw
higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.41 billion and HK$680.34 million, or
11.39% and 5.5% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented
19.19% and 16.07% of respective stock's turnover.
MEITUAN-W (03690) and TENCENT (00700) registered HK$577.31 million and HK$567.48 million
of short sales, accounting for 4.67% and 4.59% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 21.49% and 16.19% of respective stock's
turnover.
XIAOMI-W closed up HK$1.9, or 5.59%, to HK$35.9. HSCEI ETF ended up HK$0.92, or 1.27%,
to HK$73.28. MEITUAN-W rose HK$3.2, or 2.12% to HK$153.8. TENCENT declined by HK$0.8, or
0.19%, to HK$415.2.
