[ET Net News Agency, 2 January 2025] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$87.43
billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$15.81 billion, or 18.08% of the market's
turnover. There were 651 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and XIAOMI-W (01810) saw
higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.03 billion and HK$966.25 million, or 6.5%
and 6.11% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 20.66%
and 26.36% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND (02800) and BABA-W (09988) registered HK$833.98 million and HK$733 million
of short sales, accounting for 5.27% and 4.64% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 13.84% and 38.04% of respective stock's
turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$3.6, or 0.86%, to HK$420.6. XIAOMI-W ended flat, to HK$34.5.
TRACKER FUND fell HK$0.31, or 1.53% to HK$19.95. BABA-W declined by HK$0.6, or 0.73%, to
HK$81.8.
