[ET Net News Agency, 24 December 2024] Half trading-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks
was HK$84.59 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$9.4 billion, or 11.12% of the
market's turnover. There were 629 short-selling stocks. XIAOMI-W (01810) and HSCEI ETF
(02828) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$710.6 million and HK$609.71
million, or 7.56% and 6.48% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 20.27% and 13.99% of respective stock's turnover.
BABA-W (09988) and ICBC (01398) registered HK$511.43 million and HK$449.22 million of
short sales, accounting for 5.44% and 4.78% of the total short sales values respectively.
The transactions represented 13.18% and 20.62% of respective stock's turnover.
XIAOMI-W closed up HK$1, or 3.15%, to HK$32.75. HSCEI ETF ended up HK$1.06, or 1.44%, to
HK$74.58. BABA-W rose HK$2.15, or 2.65% to HK$83.15. ICBC jumped HK$0.07, or 1.38%, to
HK$5.15.
