[ET Net News Agency, 20 December 2024] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$84.44 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$12.44 billion, or 14.73% of the
market's turnover. There were 648 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and BABA-W (09988)
saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$2.28 billion and HK$1.31 billion, or
18.3% and 10.56% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented
20% and 19.15% of respective stock's turnover.
XIAOMI-W (01810) and KUAISHOU-W (01024) registered HK$634.73 million and HK$602.09
million of short sales, accounting for 5.1% and 4.84% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 21.08% and 29% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$12.8, or 3.08%, to HK$428. BABA-W ended down HK$2.75, or 3.32%, to
HK$80.2. XIAOMI-W rose HK$1, or 3.25% to HK$31.8. KUAISHOU-W declined by HK$2.1, or 4.65%,
to HK$43.1.
