[ET Net News Agency, 27 September 2024] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$244.27 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$29.62 billion, or 12.13% of the
market's turnover. There were 664 short-selling stocks. TRACKER FUND (02800) and BABA-W
(09988) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$2.91 billion and HK$2.3
billion, or 9.83% and 7.76% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 25.66% and 19.77% of respective stock's turnover.
MEITUAN-W (03690) and TENCENT (00700) registered HK$2.01 billion and HK$1.9 billion of
short sales, accounting for 6.79% and 6.43% of the total short sales values respectively.
The transactions represented 15.82% and 13.32% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND closed up HK$0.68, or 3.29%, to HK$21.34. BABA-W ended up HK$5.85, or
5.98%, to HK$103.6. MEITUAN-W rose HK$16.1, or 10.58% to HK$168.3. TENCENT jumped HK$11.8,
or 2.74%, to HK$441.8.
