[ET Net News Agency, 12 September 2024] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$50.41 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$6.4 billion, or 12.69% of the
market's turnover. There were 594 short-selling stocks. MEITUAN-W (03690) and BABA-W
(09988) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$736.15 million and HK$373.06
million, or 11.51% and 5.83% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 23.85% and 10.47% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT (00700) and HSCEI ETF (02828) registered HK$338.12 million and HK$242.88 million
of short sales, accounting for 5.29% and 3.8% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 11.04% and 16.95% of respective stock's
turnover.
MEITUAN-W closed up HK$4.8, or 4.02%, to HK$124.2. BABA-W ended up HK$2.05, or 2.52%, to
HK$83.5. TENCENT rose HK$4.4, or 1.19% to HK$374.6. HSCEI ETF jumped HK$0.64, or 1.04%, to
HK$62.38.
