[ET Net News Agency, 13 August 2024] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$37.54
billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$5.63 billion, or 15% of the market's turnover.
There were 599 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and CCB (00939) saw higher value of
short sales, accounting for HK$441.02 million and HK$308.53 million, or 7.83% and 5.48% of
the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 17.81% and 29.4% of
respective stock's turnover.
BABA-SW (09988) and MEITUAN-W (03690) registered HK$306.62 million and HK$238.39 million
of short sales, accounting for 5.44% and 4.23% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 29.12% and 16.19% of respective stock's
turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$3.6, or 0.96%, to HK$378.6. CCB ended down HK$0.01, or 0.18%, to
HK$5.54. BABA-SW fell HK$0.05, or 0.06% to HK$78.4. MEITUAN-W declined by HK$1.6, or
1.54%, to HK$102.4.
