billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$16.83 billion, or 14.09% of the market's
turnover. There were 644 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and MEITUAN-W (03690) saw
higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$2.1 billion and HK$872.36 million, or
12.45% and 5.18% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented
19.33% and 16.92% of respective stock's turnover.
CCB (00939) and BABA-SW (09988) registered HK$606.82 million and HK$567.74 million of
short sales, accounting for 3.61% and 3.37% of the total short sales values respectively.
The transactions represented 20.52% and 11.08% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$12.2, or 3.17%, to HK$397. MEITUAN-W ended up HK$5.7, or 4.91%, to
HK$121.8. CCB rose HK$0.13, or 2.35% to HK$5.66. BABA-SW jumped HK$2.95, or 3.91%, to
HK$78.4.
