[ET Net News Agency, 19 June 2024] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$55.57
billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$7.47 billion, or 13.44% of the market's
turnover. There were 607 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and ICBC (01398) saw higher
value of short sales, accounting for HK$483.31 million and HK$367.59 million, or 6.47% and
4.92% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 13.68% and
29.9% of respective stock's turnover.
CCB (00939) and BANK OF CHINA (03988) registered HK$343.97 million and HK$340.76 million
of short sales, accounting for 4.61% and 4.56% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 22.89% and 29.79% of respective stock's
turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$8, or 2.12%, to HK$385. ICBC ended up HK$0.11, or 2.51%, to HK$4.5.
CCB rose HK$0.17, or 3.03% to HK$5.78. BANK OF CHINA jumped HK$0.1, or 2.63%, to HK$3.9.
