*Improved charging networks combined with the popularization of intelligent driving propel China's NEV sector into a high-景气 cycle*
According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in August 2026, sales of new energy vehicles in China reached 1.643 million units, representing a year-on-year increase of 17.8%. This high industry growth stems from two major factors: improved charging infrastructure and the widespread adoption of intelligent driving. Regarding charging infrastructure, data from the China Charging Alliance indicates that by the end of this August, the cumulative number of NEV charging facilities in China reached 24.22 million, a year-on-year increase of 39.6%, effectively alleviating drivers' charging needs. On the intelligent driving front, according to McKinsey & Company's report '2026 McKinsey China Automotive Consumer Insights,' nearly 70% of consumers regard intelligent driving features as standard when purchasing a vehicle. This trend continues to drive demand for NEVs. The China Innovation Alliance of the New Energy Vehicle Industry estimates that by 2035, NEV sales in China will double to 38 million units. Clearly, an increasing number of consumers are willing to purchase NEVs, pushing the sector into a high-景气 cycle.
*Precise policy measures add extra demand for China's new energy vehicles*
National and local governments have introduced policies to anchor medium- and long-term growth pathways for the NEV industry. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and eight other departments jointly issued the '15th Five-Year Plan for Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Industry Development,' which explicitly requires that by 2030, the penetration rate of NEV passenger cars reach 70% and promotes the large-scale application of autonomous driving, establishing a national strategic support framework. Local governments have also responded to the 'two renewals' policy (large-scale equipment upgrades and trade-in of consumer goods for new ones). For example, Qingdao allocated 50 million RMB in fiscal funds in September this year to issue vehicle purchase subsidies. According to estimates by the China Automobile Dealers Association, such coordinated measures will directly stimulate additional consumption of 1.5 million new vehicles. Moreover, NEV subsidies are significantly higher than those for traditional fuel vehicles, expected to trigger a structural shift in consumption toward NEVs, further boosting domestic demand for China's NEV industry.
*China's NEV exports expected to sustain rapid growth*
Exports of new energy vehicles from China continue to show strong growth momentum and have become the industry's second growth engine. According to consulting firm AlixPartners, China's full-year NEV exports in 2026 are expected to reach 5 million units, a year-on-year increase of 92%. Furthermore, as technology in China's NEV production continues to improve, it is expected to attract greater attention from overseas buyers, driving sustained strong growth in NEV exports. According to further projections by the China Electric Vehicle 100 Forum, export volumes will surge to 10 million units by 2035. Rapid expansion into overseas markets has become a core pillar supporting the sustainable development of China's NEV industry. Driven by policy support, technological innovation, and market demand, China's NEV industry has entered a golden period of rapid development.
