SSE Composite Index rises 0.01% in morning session to reclaim 3,800 level; media & entertainment, oil stocks surge

The Economic Information Agency reported on the 14th that China's September trade data showed growth, with Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets adjusting with volatility in early trading, and the three major indices performing differently. The SSE Composite Index rose 0.01% in the morning session, closing at 3,801.13 points, reclaiming the 3,800 level; the Shenzhen Component Index fell 0.51%, and the ChiNext Index dropped 1.15%. The total trading volume in the morning session of both markets was only 852.8 billion yuan (RMB, same below), a decrease of 155.4 billion yuan or 15.4% compared to the same period on the previous trading day.

The General Administration of Customs announced today that, in US dollar terms, China's total imports and exports in September amounted to 760.84 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 34.1%. Exports reached 447.18 billion US dollars, up 36.3%, marking a seven-month high, with the growth rate accelerating by 11.3 percentage points compared to August; imports amounted to 313.65 billion US dollars, up 31%, reaching a three-month high and expanding by 2.8 percentage points compared to August. The trade surplus was 133.53 billion US dollars, also exceeding expectations, compared to 119.09 billion US dollars in August.

On the market front, AI short dramas gained momentum, with media and entertainment, and short drama gaming sectors continuing their strength. Shares such as Zhangyue Technology (SSE: 603533) and Gema Culture (SZSE: 301052) hit the daily trading limit. Affected by escalating Middle East tensions and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, international oil prices continued to rise, pushing oil sector stocks higher during the session. Coal sector stocks also led gains, with Zhengzhou Coal Electric (SSE: 600121) hitting the daily limit. Recently, Qinhuangdao Port's thermal coal prices broke the 1,000 yuan per ton threshold, rising over 40% year-on-year and reaching a three-year high.

On the downside, silicone-related concepts led the decline, with Dongyue Silicone Materials (SZSE: 300821) falling nearly 5%. Leading Chinese photovoltaic enterprises held a closed-door meeting, clarifying price floors and planning further restrictions on polysilicon production. The automotive sector adjusted with volatility, with Jianghuai Automobile (SSE: 600418), Haima Automobile (SZSE: 000572), and Seres A (SSE: 601127) dropping over 6%. (wn)
