入選建築（54）：淺水灣余園

淺水灣余園的故事:

　　香港曾有古堡式的私人大宅，其中最著名的有位於港島淺水灣旁的余園。建於1930年代初的余園，主人是以「余仁生」字號，售賣中藥而著名的余東璇。這是他在香港三座故居其中之一，作為別墅之用。佔地廣濶的余園，主體建築是樓高兩層的主樓及一座塔樓，其他有温室、狗屋、網球場、游泳池等建築物組成。以仿哥德式風格設計，建築師不詳。余園於1980年代被拆卸重建為御苑，原放在余園內紀念第一次世界大戰的士兵銅像，現安放在香港公園之內。

Eucliff

　　Located next to Repulse Bay on Hong Kong Island, Eucliff is one of the few remaining private castle-style mansions in the territory. Built in the early 1930s, Eucliff is owned by Eu Tong Sen of the renowned Chinese medicine brand – Eu Yan Sang, as one of his three residences in Hong Kong. The spacious and extensive Eucliff was Eu’s resort, comprising a two-storey main building, a tower and facilities including a greenhouse, doghouse, tennis court and swimming pool. Built in Gothic style, the identity of the architect could not be traced. In the 1980s, Eucliff was demolished and reconstructed into Royal Cliff. The soldier statue in Eucliff for the memorial of World Wall I is now placed in Hong Kong Park.
