[ET Net News Agency, 13 September 2024] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$51.98 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$5.8 billion, or 11.16% of the
market's turnover. There were 600 short-selling stocks. MEITUAN-W (03690) and BABA-W
(09988) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$547.26 million and HK$517.85
million, or 9.43% and 8.93% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 26.39% and 18.5% of respective stock's turnover.
HSCEI ETF (02828) and TENCENT (00700) registered HK$365.2 million and HK$225.5 million
of short sales, accounting for 6.3% and 3.89% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 11.35% and 11.01% of respective stock's
turnover.
MEITUAN-W closed up HK$2.1, or 1.72%, to HK$124.4. BABA-W ended up HK$0.05, or 0.06%, to
HK$83.25. HSCEI ETF rose HK$0.68, or 1.09% to HK$62.92. TENCENT jumped HK$1.8, or 0.48%,
to HK$374.4.
