每年，英國電視娛樂台 Dave 都會招募喜劇評論小組，尋找愛丁堡藝穗節（Edinburgh Fringe festival）年度最佳笑話。本年度的評選先由小組提交入圍名單，再公開投票，由 2千名英國人決定「最有趣笑話」（Dave’s Funniest Joke）誰屬。本周讓我們公開投選結果！輕鬆一下之餘，測試你有多了解英式幽默？
第1名︰得票52%（來自Masai Graham）
「I tried to steal spaghetti from the shop, but the female guard saw me and I couldn’t get pasta.」
「我試圖從店裏偷取意大利粉，可是女保安員看見了我，我拿不到意大利粉了。」
你有明白它的意思笑出來嗎？字面上，spaghetti 和 pasta 皆是意大利粉。細看的話，spaghetti是pasta的其中一款，麵身細長，其他款式的pasta包括通心粉和螺絲粉。
被女保安員撞破「偷粉」，為何會是笑話一則？因為「get pasta」是「get past her」（沒有被察覺）的意思，所以句字又可以被理解為小偷逃不過女保安員的法眼。你有留意到句子前段有強調是女保安員嗎？如果是男保安的話，小偷就不能「get pasta」了！
第2名︰得票37%（來自Mark Simmons）
「Did you know, if you get pregnant in the Amazon, it’s next day delivery?」
「你知道嗎，如果你在亞馬遜懷孕，下一天就分娩？」
除了諧音外，語帶相關都是英式常見的幽默。Amazon（亞馬遜）既可指一個雨林，亦可指一間公司。delivery既可指速遞，亦可指分娩。因此，句子亦同時調侃亞馬遜公司隔日到貨的服務。
第3名︰得票36%（來自Olaf Falafel）
「My attempts to combine nitrous oxide and Oxo cubes made me a laughing stock.」
「我嘗試將一氧化二氮和 Oxo 湯粒結合讓我成為笑柄。」
這個笑話需要對英國文化有少許了解。在英國Oxo是一家出售濃縮湯粒的公司。因此，Oxo cubes其實是「stock cubes」（湯粒）。為甚麼將湯粒與化學物質結合會成為笑柄？因為nitrous oxide（一氧化二氮）其實是笑氣（laughing gas）的學名，所以laughing gas加上stock cubes，就變成「laughing stock」，亦即是「笑柄」。

「By my age, my parents had a house and a family, and to be fair to me, so do I, but it is the same house and it is the same family.」
「在我這個年紀，我的父母有樓有家，公平地說，我亦如是，只是它是同一幢樓，同一個家。」
英式幽默其中一個範疇就是自嘲。雖然句子沒有艱深的遣詞用字，但是卻有淡淡的哀傷，笑中有淚。
第5名︰得票34%（來自Will Mars）
「I hate funerals – I’m not a mourning person.」
「我討厭葬禮 —— 我不是喜歡哀悼的人。」
最後一句了，你有感受到它的幽默嗎？「mourning」是指「哀悼」，因此「mourning person」可以指「哀痛的人」。可是，因為「mourning」與「morning」同音，所以只看讀音的話，「morning person」亦指喜歡早起的人。因為葬禮一般在早上舉行，而作者不是喜歡早起的人，所以他討厭葬禮。
