[ET Net News Agency, 20 August 2024] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$40.27
billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$6.81 billion, or 16.9% of the market's
turnover. There were 611 short-selling stocks. BABA-SW (09988) and TENCENT (00700) saw
higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$483.66 million and HK$384.29 million, or
7.11% and 5.65% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented
28.22% and 18.33% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND (02800) and HSCEI ETF (02828) registered HK$278.72 million and HK$232.12
million of short sales, accounting for 4.1% and 3.41% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 25.73% and 19.01% of respective stock's
turnover.
BABA-SW closed down HK$0.95, or 1.17%, to HK$80.5. TENCENT ended down HK$1.2, or 0.32%,
to HK$371.4. TRACKER FUND fell HK$0.07, or 0.39% to HK$18.08. HSCEI ETF declined by
HK$0.32, or 0.5%, to HK$63.62.
