[ET Net News Agency, 23 February 2021] HSBC Global Research said the first 21 days of
February, which covered the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday, yielded MOP5.8bn in gross
gaming revenue (GGR) in Macau's gaming industry.
This implies an average daily run rate (ADR) of MOP466m/day for the past six days,
versus MOP279m/day during the 2020 October Golden Week and MOP188m/day the week before.
HSBC believes the results are lifted by favourable luck - VIP win rate tracked above
theoretical at 3.5-3.7% versus 3.0-3.2% the week before. Mass revenue has benefited from
the high hold rate, based on industry players' feedback.
Assuming the remaining 7 days generate a GGR of MOP220-270mn, GGR for February would be
MOP7.3-7.7bn, or -9% to -4% compared with MOP8.0bn in January, HSBC estimated. (KL)
