[ET Net News Agency, 14 July 2020] Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited (01929) said
the COVID-19 situation and the volatile macro environment continued to weigh on the retail
demand in mainland China and Hong Kong and Macau during the three months ended 30 June
2020 (the first quarter). An encouraging sequential improvement in SSS was shown in
mainland China when compared to last quarter as business resumed. Therefore, SSS decline
in mainland China narrowed to 11.2%, where Hong Kong and Macau recorded a SSS decline of
75.5%.
In mainland China, SSS of gem-set / platinum / k-gold jewellery category dropped by
6.6%, while its RSV increased 10.1% during the quarter. SSS of gem-set / platinum / k-gold
jewellery category in Hong Kong and Macau decreased by 65.7% during the quarter as
consumer traffic remained weak. (RC)
