[ET Net News Agency, 19 November 2019] Jefferies Research took the Macau GGR update
negatively after the expectation for November GGR declined to -10% to -13% versus -8% to
-12% one week ago.
Prospective travel cancelations to the region accelerated as the Hong Kong conflict
worsened. The research house expects fluid and divergent views, although the worst could
be over.
Jefferies cited its sources and checks noting that November GGR in Macau as of 17
November was estimated to be MOP729m per day, with last week slowing to MOP700m citing
possible regional travel cancelations due to the Hong Kong situation deteriorating.
On a month-to-date basis, the mass was 8-10% higher with VIP daily volume 31%-33% lower
despite "hold" slightly higher at 3.1% (versus 2.9% for the first 10 days). Its sources
estimated November GGR to be MOP21.8-22.4bn or a 10% to 13% YoY decline. (KL)
